In Conversation with Tony Palmer - Sunday 23rd
Join us as we welcome filmmaker Tony Palmer to Mare Street Market for an intimate Q&A and a rare screening of short films from his archive.
This Sunday, we’re honoured to welcome legendary filmmaker Tony Palmer to Mare Street Market for an intimate Q&A and a rare screening of selected short films from his archive.
Palmer is one of Britain’s most important directors, the man who redefined music documentaries at the BBC, worked alongside icons like John Lennon, Leonard Cohen and Cream, and created over 100 films covering everything from rock and classical music to counterculture, politics, and art.
If you’ve ever fallen down a BBC rabbit hole and wondered who made this so good? it was probably Tony Palmer.
On Sunday he’ll be speaking openly about:
- His groundbreaking years at the BBC
- How he captured the 60s/70s from inside the music scene
- Stories behind the films we’re screening (clips available on our Insta)
- The art, chaos and politics of filmmaking across 6 decades
This is a rare chance to hear from a director who genuinely shaped British culture.
